By Eight AM

I used to be in the Army. At that time the motto was, “We do more by eight in the morning than most people do all day.” It was also, “Be all that you can be.” Oh, I'm really dating myself aren't I. Back to the eight in the morning thing, I think it stuck. This morning I picked cucumbers and peppers out of my little garden. I also pickled them. My garden isn’t very big but it’s quite productive. I harvested enough to can 4 jars of dill pickles and 4 jars of Sorano peppers. The garlic, and dill came from my garden also. Oh it’s so gratifying! I also walked the dog about 2 miles. Made some more dough with my sour dough starter, put it out to rise, and started a load of laundry.

Funny thing happened while in the middle of my canning adventure. My dad called to ask for my recipe for dill pickles. Now I know where all those pickles I had in the refrigerator went to a couple of weeks ago. Dad ate them while he was here to tune up my truck. I’m glad someone likes them. I usually don’t eat most of what I cook or preserve. The fun is in the doing of it.
